Ascent Educational Services is a Northern Virginia-based educational support organization dedicated to helping children and families thrive through individualized, relationship-centered services. Founded by veteran special educator Betsy Gross, Ascent was created to bridge the gap between school, home, and community by providing comprehensive support tailored to each child's unique strengths and needs. Our mission is to empower children and families through evidence-based educational services that foster confidence, independence, meaningful relationships, and lifelong success. We believe children make the greatest progress when academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and executive functioning needs are addressed together rather than in isolation. Our work is guided by the BASE Model, a holistic framework that integrates Behavior & Relationships, Academic Development, Social-Emotional Growth, and Executive Functioning. This approach recognizes that success in one area supports growth in the others, allowing children to build skills that transfer across school, home, and community settings. Ascent provides individualized academic instruction, executive functioning coaching, social skills groups, educational consultation, parent coaching, and seasonal camps and enrichment programs. Our services support children with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, executive functioning challenges, social communication differences, developmental disabilities, and students who benefit from individualized educational support. Our social learning programs use engaging, interest-based activities—including LEGO®, STEM, robotics, art, board games, Minecraft, and collaborative projects—to teach communication, problem-solving, teamwork, emotional regulation, and friendship skills in authentic, motivating environments. Families are central to our work. We partner closely with caregivers to develop practical strategies that support children's growth beyond direct services, helping families build routines, strengthen communication, promote independence, and navigate educational systems with confidence. Ascent's multidisciplinary team includes experienced educators and specialists who are committed to individualized, strengths-based, and neurodiversity-affirming practices. We emphasize collaboration, evidence-based instruction, and meaningful relationships to create lasting, positive outcomes for every child we serve.
